According to Pocket Gamer, MiHoYo is branching out with Petit Planet, a cozy life sim in which players care for their own miniature world. The game is set to launch on iOS and Android on December 4.
What is Petit Planet?
Pocket Gamer describes Petit Planet as MiHoYo's debut cozy life sim. In the game, you play as a Tender, a caretaker responsible for growing and expanding a small planetoid. The main resource you collect is called Luca, and once you have enough, you can add new life to your world.
- Build and decorate your planetoid
- Plant and nurture new life
- Explore the Starsea and go on adventures
The experience is built around gentle activities such as building, planting, decorating and simply enjoying life on your planet. You can also explore the Starsea, a vast cosmic area filled with other places to visit and adventures to discover.
MiHoYo is best known for action RPGs, so a cozy life sim might surprise some fans. According to Pocket Gamer, the studio is stepping out of its comfort zone with this project, trading combat for creativity and exploration.
Release date and platforms
Petit Planet will be available on iOS and Android from December 4, according to Pocket Gamer. The outlet notes that mobile players will soon be able to try the game for themselves.
The December launch means players can enjoy the game during a time when many families look for relaxed games to play together on phones and tablets. Because it is a mobile title, it is easy to pick up and play in short sessions.
A cozy choice for families
Life sims are a great fit for family gaming because they encourage creativity and collaboration without high-pressure action. Petit Planet appears to follow this trend, offering a calm sandbox where players can shape their own world at their own pace.
